Satan’s Inferno

April 9th, 2008

postcard of palm springs, california

It’s official. I hate my hometown. Just when I think the Coachella Valley, where I spent the majority of my childhood, and now my young adulthood, cannot possibly get any more lame, they do something to make it even more pathetic. Allow me to paint for you a picture of life here in the valley as I slowly wind my way toward the final slap in the face which I faced less than a week ago…

Comment of the week

September 29th, 2007

Simply perusing the Desert Sun while taking your morning dump is lazy reporting. I discovered your blog today and like that there’s some local cogitation going on. However, I am disappointed that you are missing so much of the local beat, seemingly satisfied to mainly comment on events in other cities that other bloggers or reporters have uncovered. It’s an echo chamber not unlike the well-tiled bathroom in which you do your local research. You are missing some of the truly disturbing stories about DSUSD. We live in a small town: you should be able to find the local, critical-thinking people-in-the-know. Keep up the good work…only make it better. Local stories can resonate and reflect national and global concerns. —anonymous local

It is true that we concern ourselves very little with the local goings-on of the Coachella Valley on Re:Generator, but since the time the post anonymous local commented on was written, we have shifted our focus both on our blog and sundry self-published materials away from the region most of our writers happen to be situated in - this is not to say that we have any intention of ignoring local stories with greater resonance.

anonymous local: If you find Re:Generator or other Coachella Valley-situated blogs are not adequately covering subjects you are passionate about, we urge you to start a blog of your own. Blogging is free, can be done anonymously and has an immediacy some AP-style reporting lacks. You’ve demonstrated a command of the English language that could easily be used to fill this perceived void. And hey, if there are truly disturbing stories to share, we’d read it.

Let’s Start Friday Off Steamy

September 21st, 2007

Park Bathroom

Six men were arrested in a local park in Rancho Mirage on Thursday. Arrested for “lewd conduct”. Lewd conduct in the bathroom. I know the next question you’ll be asking, and no, there weren’t any U.S. Senators in what had to be a glorious man pile. Nope, no local politicians and surprisingly not a one was involved in the Fundamentalist Christian leadership… at least as far as we can tell.
