“I respect the Court’s decision and as Governor, I will uphold its ruling. Also, as I have said in the past, I will not support an amendment to the constitution that would overturn this state Supreme Court ruling.”
the initiative to strike down their ruling has already gathered over a million signatures and is just waiting for verification from the Secretary of State before it goes on the November ballot. It’s 14 words long, identical to the wording of Prop 22 back in 2000: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” This time, however, it’s a constitutional initiative, not a statutory initiative, so if it passes it will be immune to court challenges.
Ah, another important reason for Californians to clog voting booths in November. I wonder if this will change the voting dynamic much.
The 1.3 billion-strong People’s Republic of China has taken government bureaucracy to heights surreal in their invasiveness and impossible in their enforceability. In their ongoing mission to quash Tibetan Buddhism, the State Administration for Religious Affairs has taken it upon themselves to regulate the reincarnation of Lamas.
Let’s prop up our argument on the shaky assumptions that a) reincarnation is indeed possible, b) the claims of Tibetan Buddhism has some foundation in the greater cosmic reality and c) the Dalai Lama is a reincarnate Lama outside the wheel of birth and death. How could China’s government practically exert control over the reincarnation process? Do they have aetheric certification that allows them to bend the entire process to their will?
Further, if China has control over the theological destiny of one religion, what’s to say they don’t have their hands in more than one spiritual honey pot? Has the Rapture been delayed by those power-mad commie bastards? Because that’s just not fair. Really, the faithful can move on to the next plane of existence. The sooner the better.

What the shit! People in India think it’s okay to drop their infants from several stories high onto a mere bedsheet held by fellow Muslims below. As if they were just tossing a penny into a wishing well. Sure, they say that there have been no accidents or serious injuries in all of their 500 years of practicing this ritual, but you can never know for sure, can you? What if the wind is going just a mile or two faster than normal and the baby’s course is altered and it lands on a person or the concrete instead? Or even gets pushed into the building, what then? WHAT THEN, I ASK.
I may not want a child of my own nor even be that fond of them, but even I wouldn’t suggest slinging a child over the side of the building, whether it be ritual or just for kicks. These guys have more balls (figuratively speaking) than I do, that’s for sure.
All this just because they think it’ll make the baby stronger. Isn’t that what vitamins are for??

When both Rush Limbaugh and Salon’s Joan Walsh say that Rev. Jeremy Wright is trying to throw Barack Obama under the bus, then yes, Wright is trying to throw Obama under the bus.
O, in turn, gives a highly visible fuck you to his former reverend…
